In preparation to convert the upper floors of the historic St. George Hotel to a new penthouse apartment, we analyzed the existing building infrastructure that runs through the spaces and found ways to optimize and reorganize the spaces to maximize the future apartment floor area.
On the lower levels of the penthouse, we consolidated the expansive elevator machine room into a smaller footprint. We combined the domestic and sprinkler tanks into a single tank on the roof, allowing for additional square footage for the apartment on.
The relocation of the tank to the roof was accompanied by bringing the roof insulation up to current energy code standards, in addition to adding a full green roof and additional bulkhead space.
