These housing developments are part of broader strategy for the careful revitalization of the Bradhurst neighborhood in Harlem. A variety of publicly and privately owned sites are being studied to introduce a generational mix of affordable housing for seniors and disadvantaged residents – in combination with generous shared spaces and connections to the community.

Community oriented interior and exterior spaces occupy the lower levels of the building. Programming can be varied in spaces that are designed with flexibility in mind. Shared spaces for the residents occupy setbacks and rear yards; programming can be productive (with large gardens) and functional (with adjacent laundry). These make both a visual and functional connection to the larger community, in particular with collaborations with Greenthumb NYC.

The interior layouts take advantage of quality housing standards to incorporate sunlit and ventilated shared spaces on each floor within the building, a ting as a kind of living room to create a group dynamic on each floor; these spaces are connected to large terraces that also have green areas. Every unit also has terrace or balcony with a planter integrated in the railing.
