This simple retail store was designed to use the bright, reflective motifs of Three Monkeys retail spaces as a contrast to the dark steel and brick of the exterior. The project uses contrast as a means to set up a series of visual layers that draw the eye into the space and reinforce the branding strategy of Three Monkeys where the eye wear acts as a new layer for each person.
The structure of all the retail elements further supports these ideas. The signage and shelving to the street is suspended in the space, while the remaining shelving is supported by a series of mirrored columns that provide a mirrored surface to check out one’s new glasses. The back wall of the space is a pattern of coloured dots that reiterate the signage in the window, augmenting the depth of the space despite its small size.
